Danny Pipes for the dogFirst off, Hello, and welcome to my site. My name is Danny Burns and yes, the rumors are true, I play the Highland Bagpipes. If you have found my site but have never met me, please let me explain how I became involved with such an instrument.

It all started, many, many years ago.......

OK, to make a long story short, here it goes. I was first introduced to the pipes during my early high school years. I was a drummer then and involved in all kinds of music projects, ranging from Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Rubber Band... that was a joke, wink wink, oh and my own heavy metal band. It was during this time when I first heard the band Brother. I was attending a classical music concert at the Hollywood Bowl one
evening with friends, when after the show we were stopped by this trio of crazy, loud musicians. At the time they were 2 pipers and one drummer, playing on a kit snare and bass drum with a hi-hat. These guys were amazing! Jumping around, spinning, stomping, playing great tunes... I was blown away, and the stage was set. No more than a couple of yearsDanny and Warren Casey of the Wicked Tinkers
later, I had to quit playing drums and percussion because of an old wrist injury that was being aggravated by years of repetitive abuse. This was devastating to me, but as it turned out, a blessing in disguise. I knew that although I couldn't drum anymore, I wasn't about to quit playing music, no way, it was in my blood. I played around with guitar, bass, triangle, kazoo, etc... before it hit me like a flying haggis *WHACK!* "I know!" I said to myself. I'm going to learn how to play the bagpipes! Yes, I know, not the most intelligent thought but it stuck. I made some phone calls, got some info, got my first practice chanter, tutor book and then as luck would have it, my first instructor. The rest as they say, is history.

Over the past years, I've performed for all kinds of functions. Weddings, Funerals and Burns Dinners are my most requested services, but I am available for just about anything... within reason of course.
